Desk Top Building Assessor

UBS is currently we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Desk Top Building Assessor for a permanent position.

This role is office based at Carrum Downs.  In this role you will be working with insured and other trades across  Melbourne from your office desk.

You  will be  investigate the cause of loss or damage, quantifying the repairs as well as determining the best method of repair, estimating the cost of repair and report writing.

This role requires the person to have a keen eye for detail when assessing and analysing claims.

Essential Attributes:

  • Must be of a trade background and excellent knowledge of the construction industry, (housing repairs)
  • Report writing abilities.
  • Background of producing accurate priced scopes of works
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and conflict resolution
  • Must have insurance experience

Reporting to the Claims Manager, as the Team Leader you will be responsible for supporting and motivate a team of Claims Officers. 


  • To lead a team of Claims Administrators in the Group Claims team including the ongoing development of staff and creating rules for improved efficiency and client centricity.
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring the implementation of the triage parameters for all new claims received.
  • Managing, developing and improving the claims lodgement process through all current and future lodgement.
  • Ensure the Group Claims administration function provides a consistent and quality administration service, encompassing both internal and external verbal and written communication to our clients, members’ and other stakeholders.
  • Being a main contact point for claims administration escalations and complaints and managing the resolution of these complaints.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Reporting to the Project Team Leader, this Project Coordinator role is an office based administration role responsible for the coordination of repairs and maintenance to residential homes that have been damaged.


  • Determining and appointing the appropriate internal trades and subcontractors to carry out building repairs
  • Coordinate and monitor the progress of repairs to achieve required service standards for claims under $12,000
  • Liaise with trade personnel regarding repairs as per supplied scope of works
  • Liaise with property owners to ensure they are kept informed of repair progress and appropriately managing any changes to repair schedules
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and successfully manage customer expectations
  • Respond to and manage customer complaints with a positive approach and a commitment to creating solutions
  • Record all progress of repairs and completing all daily administrative requirements efficiently
  • Work within all Insurance companies guidelines meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) including compiling formal updates,
  • Regular communication with all property owners and all trades involved.
